Private Home, Ledbury, Herefordshire

Project Overview:

A homeowner in the market town of Ledbury contacted MJS Energy looking to replace an ageing Gas boiler with a modern, energy-
efficient solution. With rising fuel costs and an interest in reducing their carbon footprint, they were keen to upgrade to a renewable
heating system that would provide reliable warmth and lower running costs.

Initial Consultation

Our engineers visited the property to assess the existing setup, discuss heating habits, and carry out heat loss calculations. The client’s goals were clear: replace the Gas
boiler, install a low-maintenance system, and ensure consistent comfort throughout the home.

Solution:

We recommended a Whisper air source heat pump, paired with a completely new radiator system optimised for low-temperature heating.

Project Scope

  • Full removal of the existing Gas boiler and tank
  • Supply and installation of a Whisper heat pump
  • New heating system pipework and layout design
  • Installation of modern, efficient radiators in every room
  • Fitting of a new heat pump-compatible hot water cylinder
  • Smart controls for intuitive heating management

The Installation

The installation

Carried out over three weeks, planned to minimise disruption to the household.

Week 1:
Decommissioning of the Gas system
External groundwork and base preparation for the heat pump

Week 2:
Heat pump and cylinder installation
Internal pipework and radiator replacements

Week 3:
Final system checks and commissioning
Handover, including a walkthrough of smart controls and energy-saving features
Issuance of MCS certification

Outcome

The new system delivers quiet, reliable, and cost-effective heating, with significantly lower energy bills compared to the old gas setup. The client is especially pleased with the system’s simplicity and the noticeable improvement in warmth throughout the home.
